Tennis hits into the net, loses match to Catholic

Susquehanna’s men’s and women’s tennis fell to Catholic on Saturday afternoon.
The women lost to the Cardinals 7-2 while the men fell 9-0.
Junior Shelby O’Riley won at No. 1 singles, winning 6-3, 6-4. The two-time, all-Landmark Conference selection returned to her normal place atop the Crusaders’ pecking order with her first win of the spring after missing the Crusaders’ victory over Drew March 15.
Her teammate, junior Brielle Ferlauto, also won at number three singles, 6-3, 6-0.
Riley and senior Christine Bender dropped a highly-competitive match in No. 1 doubles, 9-8 (8-6). The tight matches at doubles continued at number two doubles as Ferlauto and senior Jessica Klinger dropped a tight 8-6 match. Klinger lost in straight sets at number two singles, 6-1, 6-4.
Freshman Alyssa Fleischman dropped a tight three-set match at number five singles for the Crusaders. Fleischman lost the first set, 6-4, before coming back to win the second set without losing a game. Fleischman lost the deciding set, 6-4.
Freshman Megan Rudloff lost a close second set at number six singles, taking the loss, 6-2, 7-5.
Men
On the men’s side, senior Jeremy Neville fell at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-0. Junior Matt Weller lost 6-0, 6-2 at number five singles.
Catholic won each match in straight sets to grab the overall team win.
Both teams will be back in action Saturday, March 29 at 1 p.m., hosting Goucher in league play.
